What makes a good purchase?
The goal isn’t necessarily to make a sale, but to make something that will serve the people that you’re working with.
There are so many avenues that you can go down:
a) Create a personal message
b) Send a package
c) Post a video with a brief description
d) Offer a discount
e) Offer an auction
f) Submit a video comment
g) Buy an item for a customer
If you don’t take action quickly you run the risk of your actions being met with, “Hey, that feels kinda lame!”, or, “That feels really boring, let’s not do that again”.
You may not find what you’re looking for in real life, but you may find what you want in a world of online shopping, where everything is easily accessible.
Let’s look at a real world example.
Case 1: A seller has a big catalog of toys that they’re seeking to sell on Etsy.
Case 2: A buyer buys several toys for their kid; all of them are similar.
Selling on Etsy is not so much an art as it is a science. This makes it easy to fall in love with something that you’re passionate about, and you can start looking back over your process in many different ways on the next step. It also forces you to make choices about your target audience, which is hard to do since you’re looking for something from which you can learn. I love how you can ask yourself (and your buyer, if you’re dealing with them) “What could I do today to make it a better experience? Is it still a good idea?”
Let’s imagine a few months down the road when you’re ready to move to eBay? Are you really okay with this change? Does it bother you when you look back and see how successful you were? This kind of information is valuable.
2) Know when to stop
I don’t know about you, but in the last few years I’ve gotten a pretty bad hangover from Etsy.
While it’s easy to move on when a new product is great (it’s the same thing with any new medium) it’s even harder once you’ve established yourself and become a big product on the site.
I’m not saying you have to stop selling things, but I would recommend that you keep an open mind and don’t worry
