Can you rip wood with a miter saw? – Home Based Carpentry Business

Yes, you read that right. I did!

So, what should I do with all that sawdust? Well, we’ll need to start with a good board, a miter saw, and a workbench. You should also have some good flooring, especially for the basement walls. I like to do the work in my workshop with my own feet on the floor and my feet in the wall, and this will allow me to do the work faster. Just make sure the walls go up at least 1″ from the floor, or you might break your leg from banging the wood at the ceiling, I suppose.

My saw does the work of a typical miter saw. The box is designed to support two hands, so I have to adjust to get everything to work properly, but this isn’t a problem.

I use a miter gauge like this one here at Big House Woodworking, which is just under half a foot long and has a 10″ diameter. I use this for one side of my miter saw, and a 1″ diameter saw for the other side, and also for the saw bit that I use for the cut. You can use anything from a standard sheet of plywood to a long piece of plywood. We’ll be cutting a 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ sheet.

I’m using a 12″ miter saw, which I prefer, even though a miter gauge is a little long and I wish it were a bit smaller. You can use anything you want. This miter saw only has a 4 inch blade, so I prefer a miter gauge. This miter saw will cut your miter saw boards from 2 to 6 feet long. I cut them down from 2 feet to 1 1/2 feet, so about 18 pieces. To make cutting more efficient, I just make sure my miter gauge has the right size for the board I am cutting and set it back on its stand.

I used this 12″ miter saw for cutting a 6 1/2″ x 12″ board for my saw table. The board has been cut with the larger miter saw to give you a nice round hole. So, I have two more pieces of wood, 6 1/2 x 8 1/2″.

Once I cut the saw boards down, I will need to add some flooring to my basement. Here’s why: the basement wall is pretty high, so I would need a larger cut
