Drinking apple cider vinegar to lose weight is not just for the ‘lose weight’ crowd. In fact, it is a simple way to take control of your weight and to give your muscles some healthy support.
As part of our Weight Loss Supplementation series (a supplement that helps you reduce the symptoms of diabetes and increases your chance of losing weight), we put to the test a few of our customers’ opinions with an unscientific weight loss study. What do you think?
Why is apple cider vinegar good for weight loss?
Drinking apple cider vinegar helps to help you burn calories by breaking down fatty (bad) foods (dairy, sugars) so that your body can use them for energy.
Drinking apple cider vinegar will also help to prevent weight gain while you are eating unhealthy foods. This is because the sugars in these foods help to make your stomach pump large amounts of energy into your body and you therefore gain more weight than you used to due to the increase in the amount of stored fat (i.e. fat-based hormones called ‘insulin’).
So, if you drink apple cider vinegar regularly and you are trying to gain weight, you might be able to get away with taking a little in your daily diet since your body will stop creating fat stores in the long term. As long as you are going to eat a lot of unhealthy foods that are high in fat-based hormones, your body will still get fat stores that it needs.
What does apple cider vinegar do?
As you probably suspect, apple cider vinegar does a lot, with benefits that are beyond the scope of this article, so we will concentrate on just three of the more important ones.
Drinking apple cider vinegar helps to lower cholesterol
Forget about cholesterol and just remember that apple cider vinegar is made from apples, so it will lower your levels of cholesterol, particularly low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein (HDL).
While the effects of apple cider vinegar on cholesterol do last a lot longer than many other medicines, it is not going to remove heart disease. However, since cholesterol helps to hold back bad cholesterol, this is something that many heart doctors will recommend. As you can see from the table below, apple cider vinegar is associated with lower levels of LDL cholesterol and also lower levels of HDL cholesterol.
