Well, it’s not that hard to do. It’s called Photoshop, and I’m going to show you how you can achieve nice looking photos in the simplest way.
What are we going to do? We’re going to create a photo that’s going to be a little bit unique looking, yet still very recognizable to everyone around you.
Let’s take a look at some examples.
What makes this photo so recognizable? It’s not a special effect or a special light source. It’s just an example of composition.
When you look at this photo, it’s not just like it’s a picture that you picked out of a drawer. It’s an interesting photograph that shows us what we’re doing. Look at the bottom right corner of this photo. The center circle is the same shape all the way around. That’s the basic rule: if something looks the same at every corner, then it’s just not unique or interesting. Think of anything with a single color or pattern. If that shape at the top is the same twice then that’s not going to grab our attention. It has to be unique or interesting or different—whatever it takes to capture people’s attention.
Don’t get me wrong, this photo has a great look. The texture looks really nice, the sky is beautifully painted and the colors seem to be just right. But let’s put our thinking caps on when we compare it to someone else’s.
If you compare the two photos side by side and take another look at the top-left corner, you see a lot of similarities. In my opinion, both photographs have that same color at the top left corner. And the same texture.
Now compare the edges of the second photograph; the second photograph has a lot of edges that are a little different between the top and bottom corners of the photo. But look at the top left corner, which has a lot of straight lines, and they are all parallel. You can also see many more distinct points that connect the photo. The colors don’t match as well, but the textures are very similar. This, in my opinion, is one area of the photo that just comes off as strange. It’s probably not in your style, though.
