How much should I pay for guitar lessons? – How To Learn To Change Guitar Chords Fast

It depends on the person you’re having lessons from, and how well they get it done. If the person is good at playing guitar – and it doesn’t hurt they are, because it is a very demanding skill – you can expect to pay anywhere from a few hundred dollars per class, to upwards of one thousand dollars per class (but you might not see them for as long as you’d expect!). As you might expect, the more experienced you are, the more they can expect and the better their prices will be.

The other factor is that even in the best guitar lessons, many of the students do not stay for the whole class – because the lessons are very short. And it is really not worth it to hold someone over for an hour, when you can have them play an entire song or two in the class, and get them to show their fingers before you leave.

What kind of lessons should I take?

As with any skill, there are certain styles of guitar lessons that are best suited to your playing style. The one thing you’ve got to remember is that you will not get the best results trying to learn a particular piece of guitar – or any other type of music – if you only try lessons on all the styles and variations of music on the planet.

You have to learn the instrument as well as play it, and if you really want to learn the technique of playing something like blues, you’ll also be able to learn a ton of ways to play the different chords that make the song “go.”

The same goes for playing an all-acoustic style “traditional” guitar. You’ll really only see a great deal of success if you start with “traditional” and move right on to “nash” or “jazz” or whatever else (and if you don’t know either of the styles, you won’t get anywhere – because your playing will be terrible.

In general, if you want to improve your playing, you really need to practice some non-acoustic styles, but that’s a subject for a different time.

How long does it last?

It depends – but usually it isn’t very long. Most beginner guitar lessons take 1 or 2 hours in length, with the exception of the more advanced ones where the lessons are longer. The length can vary widely, depending on the class’ length and the size of the class, so keep in mind that this is just a guideline.
