How long does it take to learn electric guitar?

We’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years. Most of that time was spent playing in a band. I started learning when I was 14 years old. It took me 10 years before I could even pick up an acoustic guitar, which would be the first time I played in my own home. But then, when I was in high school, I was working part time in the classroom. I decided that when I was a teacher I should try becoming an electric guitarist. Why did you choose to focus on learning electric bass?

It’s much more fun. It’s faster, it’s more enjoyable and it’s much more rewarding. I’m very blessed to have such a rich and deep musical family. So, whenever I want to learn something new — the bass for example, is an incredibly fun instrument. I love the way it sounds. It’s very different from the regular electric guitar. It’s also very powerful and loud. Playing a bass guitar or any other kind of instrument is very similar to how I experienced electric guitar when I was very young and it has a special significance for me.

In the beginning though, I tried to think about what kind of music I could play and focus on that. I always wanted to perform live, I could not wait for it to begin. When I start playing concerts, I feel more comfortable, and I enjoy making people dance. With just one guitar in my hands, I think everyone can play guitar.

Have you ever played with other guitar players? Is it hard to play with them?

Sometimes. It’s a bit tough when you’re two guys playing together, but we get along really well. But it’s definitely an interesting experience to get to know different styles at the same time. Because, in my opinion, this is the most important thing when it comes to becoming a musician. When I
