A few months ago, I found that Firefox’s developer editor had been using a lot of memory. When the app was open, the process was draining lots of memory and I ended up shutting the app down. The app was still running, but I was forced to close it down.
Dogs are our closest animal relatives with some notable distinctions between the two species. Humans, and to a lesser extent non humans, have been dogs for the longest time, but what separates dogs and humans is that humans developed a specific strategy in the evolution of dogs, and the reason for this strategy is thought to have to do with the selective advantages they enjoyed as hunters at the time.
As a hunter animal it is important for dogs not to get killed, which may be easier in humans than in dogs, since we have a higher body mass and the ability to build up a reserve of energy to compensate for the fact we may get shot.
Dogs and Humans also have some similarities of note, with some being less intelligent and other differences. Dogs seem to require their human companions to be dominant in certain situations, such as the use of a collar. Humans being social animals don’t like being under the impression that they are not able to dominate those around them, which is partly why dogs lack social hierarchy. Dogs, on the other hand, seem to respect dominance with the person who is dominant in the dog house, because a dog will respond if it perceives the dominant person as an alpha dog.
So how do dogs distinguish dominance from submissiveness? Dogs have many behaviors that indicate dominance but submissiveness, such as sitting quietly by your side, not whining, or barking. When a dog does these things it is called sign of the dominant dog – or in other words a signal of submission. So how do humans differentiate dominance from submissiveness when it comes to dogs?
One way is by asking the question “What would you do?” In other words, do you think I would treat you like a dog, or would you treat me like a cat, or a dog? Dogs that have been around dogs that have exhibited signs of dominance, like sit and lay down, will understand that they have been shown dominance through these behaviors. Dogs and
