In an age where education is increasingly becoming a necessity for a growing number of aspiring young professionals it is surprising that a film degree is considered one of the most significant training and credentials in terms of attracting a full-time job.
In fact, with a degree in Film Studies or another subject that specifically focuses on cinema, it could mean that graduates without a prior work experience could be offered higher income, lower hours, and a wider variety of job opportunities.
It is an exciting time for film studies (or any subject) as film production continues to become part of the global economy and our knowledge of how to make films has become more sophisticated. As such we are seeing a great deal of demand for courses in how to produce a film and the production of art and content. However, it is important to keep in mind that not every course in this area is appropriate to a young professional.
The Film Institute of Australia currently offers several film course options that fit this need.
For a general guide to films you can visit our film videos page.
Here’s a link showing films offered at the current point in time: http://www.fia.org/films/films/videogames
For the more detailed courses that you are more interested in (and for which the fee is comparable in other countries) visit our Film courses page.
If it is not an option for you or if you need specific help, please do not hesitate to seek out our Graduate Programs staff.
We do not recommend any courses that we cannot cover – there’s no point in going to someone with less experience or qualifications.
You can also read a recent letter by Film Institute of Australia Chair and National Executive Member, Bob Deneane, on the need for more professional film studies.
